"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him." John 4: 23
Musical praise and worship is an integral part of the ministry life of Meadows Fellowship. Our worship teams are comprised of musicians of every skill level, from beginner to professional. The goal of our worship ministry is to facilitate an environment where every person is free to express their love and devotion for Jesus whether singing, praying, speaking or being silent.
What makes worship worshipful? What is “good” worship? What does it look like? What kind of worship pleases God? Below is an acronym we use to help answer these questions.
P - Passionate - In other words, God wants me to worship with everything that I have. Psalm 9:1 says “I will praise you, O Lord, with my whole heart”
R - Reverent –I am often reminded of the fact that God is awesome and I am not. Therefore I come to Him humbly. 2 Sam. 6:22 “And I will be even more undignified than this, and I will be humbled in my own sight.” To quote Dr. Jack Hayford, “His Word indicates that he is not looking for something brilliant, but something broken.”
Psalm 51:5 "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart- these O God; You will not despise (Psalm 51:17)”
A - Authentic – God wants worshipers that are transparent and sincere. John 4:23 “…true worshipper will worship the Father in Spirit and truth.” Is. 29:13 Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men."
I - Inspired by the Holy Spirit - Eph. 5:18-19 says, “…let the Holy Spirit fill and control you. Then you will sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, making music to the Lord in your hearts.”
S - Sacrificial - Rom 12:1 “…I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship.” 2 Sam 24:24 “But the king replied to Araunah, "No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing." So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels of silver for them.
E - Expectant – Heb 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Worship rehearsals are scheduled for the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7:00 PM.
